Q&A Curiosities

Are your Estheticians licensed?

Yes.

Do you wax men?

Yes. We are a full service waxing studio for men and women.

I’ve never been waxed before. Is it painful?

Getting waxed for the first time is going to be slightly uncomfortable. However, you’re in the hands of licensed estheticians and the more you wax the less it hurts. For those of you who are more sensitive than others, we sell products to help with that.

Can I take anything to help with the pain?

You can take Ibuprofen, Aleve, or Tylenol to help with the pain. DO NOT TAKE ASPRIN, it thins your blood.

How long does a wax typically last?

Honestly, results vary by person. A wax typically lasts anywhere from 3-6 weeks. It really just depends on not only an individuals growth rate, but also on personal preference.

How long does my hair have to be?

At Bliss Wax Boutique, for best results we recommend at least a 1/4 an inch. The best indicator is if you can pinch your hairs with your fingers and tug on them a little.

Can I get waxed on my period?

Yes. However ladies, please be respectful of our estheticians and wear the appropriate clean feminine product.

Can I get waxed if I’ve been tanning?

You can get waxed if you have been tanning. However, if you are burnt in anyway from tanning, you will not be waxed.

What is the difference between a Bikini, Hollywood, Deep Bikini, and Brazilian Wax

A Bikini Wax is an ‘old school underwear’ traditional bikini wax that removes about 2 inches outward from the inguinal line.

A Hollywood Bikini Wax removes a large portion of hair from the top of the bikini line, as well as the sides of the bikini line, and the vaginal lips. We do not remove hair from the labia or in between the buttocks. A very small patch of hair is left in the front

A Deep Bikini Wax resembles a high cut bikini where a portion of hair is removed from the top of the bikini line. The sides of the bikini line are waxed about 1 ½ inches inward from the inguinal line. A small portion of hair is removed from the sides of the vaginal lips. We do not remove hair from the labia or in between the buttocks.

For the Brazilian, we go from the front, all the way to the back. You can choose to leave a small strip or design in the front if you would like.

How should I prepare for a Bikini Wax?

The hair must be between 1/4 of an inch and 1/2 of an inch, or long enough to lie down on the skin. It can’t be stubbly, or long and puffy. If it is any longer than 1/2 of an inch, please trim the hair. Do not schedule any waxing during your period, after consuming caffeine, or if you are taking any oral medications for acne or antibiotics for a cold. Please wear loose fit clothing.

Why do I need facials?

A regular facial routine is more about skin health and maintenance than it is about luxury or pampering, although many do find it to be a relaxing, enjoyable experience. Facial services help increase circulation and stimulate the skin. They can also help slow down premature aging and drastically improve conditions such as acne, redness and Rosacea. Facials are a great preventative treatment to help you beat wrinkles before they occur, and can also help you achieve lighter, brighter, younger-looking skin. In addition to healthier skin, many men enjoy regular facials to help minimize irritation, redness, ingrown hairs, and razor burn associated with shaving.

How soon will I start seeing results from my facials?

Some people see results immediately, and your skin should feel different right away. The skin feels, clean, smooth, hydrated, and reflects a new level of health that’s visibly noticeable.  If the skin has more advanced long-term needs, such as treatment of skin aging, acne or hyper-pigmentation caused by hormonal fluctuations or sun damage, results may not be immediately visible; however, skin health will continue to improve as you follow the advice of your professional skin therapist, and continue your home-care regimen.

What are the long term benefits of getting regular facials?

Plain and simple: healthy skin! And healthy skin is better-looking skin. When skin is at an optimal level of fitness, your professional skin therapist can more effectively address issues that may arise from time to time, as your skin’s needs are constantly changing.

What should I do to prepare for my facial?

Facials are designed to work on your skin from the neck up, you may want to plan on removing your makeup or pulling long hair back, however we can remove your makeup. Just relax, close your eyes and let us look after you.

How often should I get a facial?

Generally, facials are recommended once a month. However, you can discuss your specific needs, desired outcomes and schedule with your esthetician. Also be sure to ask about our facial packages, and save when you purchase and book your regular facials in advance.

Can I wear makeup after my facial?

Ideally we would love you to go home and relax and enjoy your natural glow for as long as you can. But, we all live busy lives, so if you are going out afterwards or back to work, putting on make-up will not harm your facial. Your skin will continue to radiate.

I am getting married, or have an event, when should I plan on having a facial?

For brides, grooms or anyone with a special event planned, we suggest a six month facial program. On your first visit, speak to your esthetician and we will set out a customized facial plan to ensure you are radiating for your special day.

Will the facial hurt?

You should never feel irritation, burning or discomfort during your facial. If for some reason you should feel discomfort, please tell your esthetician immediately.
